The Manager, Software Engineering will lead one or more technology teams building a world class Cards platform. Working closely with Product leadership, you will drive customer success in an expanding and rapidly growing area.

 Primary Responsibilities.

• Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing a process for regular assessment and improvement.
• Provide leadership (Architecture, Design, Development) for medium to large sized projects and maintenance on our payment systems that interact with channels and core systems.
• Help engineers develop their careers, assigning them work tailored to their skill levels, long term skill development and work styles.
• Partner across engineering and management teams to create a positive work environment, set clear expectations and accountability.
• Expand the team with SVB’s values in mind.
• Drive to learn new things and go above and beyond the call of duty.

Qualifications

• Experience managing a team of systems software engineers of varied skill levels.
• Ability to influence software architecture and system design.
• Demonstrated experience recruiting, building, structuring and leading technical organizations.
• Hands-on experience in development and solving complex problems.

• Proficient in cloud-first development, agile methodologies, modern testing techniques and continuous delivery.
• Extensive experience leading, building and maintaining critical software platforms.
• Able to articulate tradeoffs at the application, system or product level.

Preferred

• BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree/experience.
• Deep understanding of how Financial platform’s function and how they scale. This involves experience with micro-services and high throughput messaging/streaming technologies.
• Prior experience with regulated financial organization is a plus.
• Experience of payment gateways and payment execution engines.
